Healthy eating habits starts in the early years and can last for many years to come.
Some children will struggle and so children will not, so it is important to make it creative to ensure there is variety of healthy choices.
As early learning educators, we have a responsibility to begin to advocate with families on health eating habits. It can be by providing families with easy and quick recipes or tips.
SOME QUICK HEALTHY SNACK TIPS:
-easy to grab fruits or veggies and add a protein to it like humus or cheeses
-shakes: use greek yogurt, fruit, milk and just blend. Greek yogurt is a great source of protein inless than a minute.
-boil eggs are a great snack that can be prepped and added almost anything.
The trick will be to make it tasty and easy to grab.
SOME EASY DINNER CHOICES:
Whole wheat pasta and sause: easy to make and a great wholegrain. You can add any type of bean ormeat to your meal.
Meat balls: This is a greatway to quickly hide a lot of veggies if you are wanting to up the healthy veggie intake.
Soups: Homemade soups are another quick way to ensure every foodgroup choice is consumed and soup is also a great comfort food for a lot of people. There is just something about a warm bowl of soup
